OTHER SKILLS AND EXPERIENCES
Boy Scouts of America: Troop Committee Member, San Francisco Pack 3 (Chinatown branch) of Boy Scouts and Cub Scouts, 2003 to present. Attends three to four events per month with son.
Music: Plays mandolin, guitar, harmonica. From 2003 to present has made more than 100 visits as a volunteer musical performer for special ed and kindergarten classes.
Publishing: Has designed and self-published two short books and two after-school yearbooks.
Photography: Has taken hundreds of photos for newspapers and magazines.
Shorthand: Writes Pitman's shorthand at 100 words per minute and keyboard shorthand at 80 words per minute.
Cooking: Has taught more than 100 cooking classes to children from toddlers to 5th graders. Previously spent six years as a restaurant reviewer for newspapers in New York and San Francisco.
Foreign languages: Speaks Spanish, Italian, some Cantonese, a little Vietnamese.
Public speaking: From 1985-90 was a member of Asian Express, the Chinatown branch of Toastmasters International, a public speaking organization. Won award as the club's best speaker of the year.
