Materials:
3 dice
plastic cup
small cardboard box lid
8 colored tokens for each player
game board (sheet of numbers in squares)

This is a game for 2 to 6 players. The object of the game is to place three tokens in a row.

Each player should pick one color of tokens. If possible, choose tokens that are the same color as the players' clothing.

To start, someone throws the three dice, adds up the total, and counts around the table, pointing to each person as he counts. When he reaches the total, the person he's pointing to starts the game. Then the players take turns clockwise around the table.

Each player throws the three dice into the box and adds up the total. Each player is responsible for adding up his own total. One good way is to start with the highest number, then add the next highest number, then the lowest number. For example, if the dice are 6, 4 and 3, the player should count: "6 and 4 are 10. 10 and 3 are 13."

Each player puts one of his tokens on a square that has the same number as the total shown on the dice.

If there isn't an empty square on the board with the total, the player uses a combination of addition and subtraction to get a different number for his token. The player must think of an equation that uses all three dice.

For example, if the dice are 6, 4 and 3 and there's no square 13, the player may put a token on 1, 5 or 7 by saying: 4+3-6=1, 6+3-4=5 or 6+4-3=7.

If any player leaves in the middle of a game, all of that player's tokens are removed and the game continues.

The winner is the first person to get three tokens in a row, in any direction, including vertically.

It's a good strategy to put the tokens near the middle of the board because there are more combinations to get three in a row. Another strategy is to block other players' tokens.
