AIKEN DRUM (D)

There was a man lived in the moon
Lived in the moon, lived in the moon
There was a man lived in the moon
And his name was Aiken Drum

And he played upon a ladle
A ladle, a ladle
And he played upon a ladle
And his name was Aiken Drum.

And his hat was made of good cream cheese

And his coat was made of good roast beef

And his buttons were made of good pie crust

There was a man in another town,
In another town, in another town
There was a man in another town,
And his name was Willy Wood;

And he played upon a razor,
A razor, a razor
And he played upon a razor,
And his name was Willy Wood.

And he ate up all the good cream cheese

And he ate up all the good roast beef

But he choked upon the good pie crust
The good pie crust, the good pie crust
But he choked upon the haggis bags
And that ended Willy Wood.

ALL I REALLY NEED (D)

chorus:
All I really need is a song in my heart
Food in my butelly, and love in my family
All I really need is a song in my heart, and love in my family

And I need the rain to fall, and I need the sun to shine
To give life to the seeds we sow, to give the food we need to grow

(Chorus)

And I need some clean water for drinking
Oh I need some clean air for breathing
So that I can grow up strong, take my place where I belong

(Chorus)

The maids we are leaving we'll never forget
And we're bound for the Rio Grande

FARE THEE WELL, MY PRETTY FAIR MAID
FOR WE'RE BOUND FOR THE RIO GRANDE.

So it's pack up your donkey and get underway

And we're bound for the Rio Grande

We've a jolly good ship and a jolly good crew
Away, Rio
A jolly good mate and a good skipper too
And we're bound for the Rio Grande

Heave with a will and heave long and strong
Away, Rio
Sing the good chorus, for 'tis a good song
And we're bound for the Rio Grande

BABY BELUGA (D)

Baby beluga in the deep blue sea
Swim so wild and you swim so free
Heaven above and the sea below
And a little white whale on the go
Baby beluga, oh baby beluga
Is the water warm, Is your mama home
With you so happy?

Way down yonder where the dolphins play
Where you dive and splash all day
Waves roll in and the wave roll out
See the water squirtin' out of your spout
Baby beluga, oh baby beluga
Sing your little song, sing for all your friends
We like to hear you

(make lip sounds)

When it's dark, you're home and fed
Curl up snug in your water bed
Moon is shining and the stars are out
Goodnight, little whale, goodnight
Baby beluga, oh baby beluga
With tomorrow's sun, another day's begun
You'll soon be waking

Baby beluga in the deep blue sea
Swim so wild and you swim so free
Heaven above and the sea below
And a little white whale on the go
You're just a little white whale on the go.

BARNEY SONG (g)

Barney is a dinosaur from our imagination
When he's tall he's what we call
A dinosaur sensation
Barney teaches lots of things
Like how to play pretend
A-B-C's and 1-2-3's and how to be a friend
Barney comes to play with us
Whenever we may need him
Barney can be your friend too
If you just make believe him

(C)
I love you, you love me, we're a happy family.
With a great big hug and a kiss from me to you
Won't you say you love me too!

BILLY BOY (c)

Oh where have you been, Billy Boy, Billy Boy?
Where have you been, Charmin' Billy?
I have been to seek a wife, she's the apple of my life,
She's a young thing and cannot leave her mother.

Did she ask you to come in? Yes she asked me to come in,
There's a dimple in her chin

Can she bake a cherry pie? She can bake a cherry pie,
Quick as a cat can wink an eye

How old is she? three times six and four times seven,
Twenty-eight and eleven

Did she take your hat? Well yes she took my hat,
And she threw it at the cat

How tall is she? She's tall as a pine, and straighter than a vine

Can she fry a dish of meat? She can fry a dish of meat,
As fast as I can eat

CHANT

Used to watch TV all day
Wasting all my time away
Used to hang out on the street
Now I'm sitting in this seat

Mama, Mama, can't you see
What this school has done to me
I can pass the hardest test
Stick a ribbon on my chest

Woh woh woh woh
Woh woh woh woh

Mama told me, daddy too
Always do your best in school
Want to fill my head with knowledge
Someday I will go to college

Teacher told me don't you yammer
Or you'll end up in the slammer
If you don't cut out your yackin'
Someone's gonna get a whackin'

Walking tall and feeling good
Doing things I never could
Rising high will be my fate
I can be somebody great

Rising high will be my fate
I can be somebody great

CLEMENTINE (D)

In a cavern, in a canyon
Excavating for a mine
Lived a miner, a forty-niner
And his daughter, Clementine

chorus:
OH, MY DARLING, OH, MY DARLING
OH, MY DARLING CLEMENTINE
YOU ARE LOST AND GONE FOREVER
DREADFUL SORRY, CLEMENTINE

Light she was and like a fairy
And her shoes were number nine
Herring boxes without topses
Sandals were for Clementine

Drove she ducklings to the water
Every morning just at nine
Hit her foot against a splinter
Fell into the foaming brine

Ruby lips above the water
Blowing bubbles soft and fine
But alas, I was no swimmer
So I lost my Clementine

Then the miner, forty-niner
Soon began to peak and pine
Thought he oughta join his daughter
Now he's with his Clementine

There's a churchyard on the hillside
Where the flowers grow and twine
There grow roses, 'mongst the posies
Fertilized by Clementine.

In the mornin', when we rise

That's the time, that's the time, I love the best

Blue is the color of the sky
In the mornin', when we rise
In the mornin', when we rise
That's the time, that's the time, I love the best

Green is the color of the sparklin' corn
In the mornin', when we rise
In the mornin', when we rise
That's the time, that's the time, I love the best

Mellow is the feeling that I get inside
When I see her -- um-hmm
When I see her -- uh-huh
That's the time, that's the time, I love the best

Freedom is a word I rarely use
Without thinkin' -- um-hmm
Without thinkin' -- uh-huh
Of the time, yes the time, when I been low

CRIPPLE CREEK (d)

I got a gal at the head of the creek,
Goin' to see her 'bout the middle of the week.
Kiss her on the mouth just as sweet as any wine,
Wrap herself around me like a sweet potato vine.

chorus:
Goin' up Cripple Creek, goin' in a run,
Goin' up Cripple Creek to have a little fun.
Goin' up Cripple Creek, goin' in a whirl,
Goin' up Cripple Creek to see my girl.

The girls up Cripple Creek 'bout half grown,
Jump on a boy like a dog on a bone
Roll my britches up to my knees,
I'll wade old Cripple Creek when I please.

Cripple Creek's wide an' Cripple Creek's deep,
I'll wade old Cripple Creek before I sleep.
The rocks are rocky and the hillside's muddy,
And I'm so drunk I can't stand steady.

DING DANG DONG GO THE WEDDING BELLS (E)

There was a little frog lived in a well,
Ding! Dang! Dong! go the wedding bells
And a pretty little mouse lived under a mill, ding dang dong etc.

chorus:
HERE'S TO CHESHIRE, HERE'S TO CHEESE
HERE'S TO THE PEARS AND THE APPLE TREES
AND HERE'S TO THE LOVELY STRAWBERRIES
DING! DANG! DONG! GO THE WEDDING BELLS

Froggy went a courting and he did ride
Now Miss Mouse you must decide

I'll have to ask my Uncle Rat,
And see what he does say to that

Well Uncle Rat says I'm much afraid
If you don't marry Froggy, gonna die an old maid

Well open the oysters, spill the champagne
Never will there be such a feast again

But as they were going it hot and strong
The good gray cat came prowling along

She sprang through the window right out of the yard
She didn't bring no invitation card

Now Uncle Rat like a hero stood
Puss wet her whiskers in his blood

Now Miss Mousey made a dive for a crack
Puss made a pounce and broke her back

Now where was the valiant frog the while?
He just about broke the four-minute mile

Now this is the end of him and of her
There won't be no tadpoles covered in fur

DON'T LAUGH AT ME (C)

I'm a little boy with glasses
The one they call the geek
A little girl who never smiles
'Cause I have braces on my teeth
And I know how it feels to cry
myself to sleep

I'm the kid on every playground
Who's always chosen last
I'm the one who's slower
Than the others in my class
You don't have to be my friend
But is it too much to ask

chorus:
DON'T LAUGH AT ME
DON'T CALL ME NAMES
DON'T GET YOUR PLEASURE FROM MY PAIN
IN GOD'S EYES WE'RE ALL THE SAME
SOMEDAY WE'LL ALL HAVE PERFECT WINGS
DON'T LAUGH AT ME

I'm the beggar on the corner
You've passed me on the street
And I wouldn't be out here beggin'
If I had enough to eat
And don't think I don't notice
That our eyes never meet

I was born a little different
I do my dreaming from this chair
I pretend it doesn't hurt me
When people point and stare
There's a simple way to show me
Just how much you care

(Chorus)

I'm fat, I'm thin, I'm short, I'm tall
I'm deaf, I'm blind, hey, aren't we all

(Chorus)

DONUT SONG (C)

chorus:
WHEN YOU WALK THE STREETS
YOU'LL HAVE NO CARES
IF YOU WALK THE LINES AND NOT THE SQUARES
AS YOU GO THROUGH LIFE MAKE THIS YOUR GOAL:
WATCH THE DONUT, NOT THE HOLE

It's written on the rainbow, in letters made of gold
Written on the rainbow, there's wisdom to behold
My friend the little sparrow, flew close enough to see
Written on the rainbow is this philosophy

(Chorus)

It's written on the rainbow, in letters made of gold
Written on the rainbow, there's wisdom to behold
My friend the little sparrow agrees it must be so
Little angels wrote it, so folks on earth would know

(Chorus)

I'm off to jolly England, where bulldogs all wear pants
Off to Pango Pango, where alligators dance
My friend the little sparrow will take me when he flies
Even to the rainbow, to read with my own eyes

(Chorus)

It's written on the rainbow, in letters made of gold
Written on the rainbow, there's wisdom to behold
My friend the little sparrow, flew close enough to see
Written on a rainbow, is this philosophy

(Chorus)

Back to my home, I dare not go

Did you ever see a whale with a polka dot tail?

Did you ever see a fly wearing a tie?

Did you ever see a bear combing his hair?

Did you ever see llamas eating their pajamas?

Did you ever have a time when you couldn't make it rhyme?

DUNDERBECK (D)

chorus:
OH, DUNDERBECK, OH DUNDERBECK
HOW COULD YOU BE SO MEAN?
TO EVER HAVE INVENTED
THE SAUSAGE MEAT MACHINE?
NOW ALL THE NEIGHBOR'S CATS AND DOGS
WILL NEVER MORE BE SEEN
CAUSE THEY'VE BEEN GROUND TO SAUSAGE MEAT
IN DUNDERBECK'S MACHINE

There was a man from New York town
His name was Dunderbeck
He sold a lot of sausages and sauerkraut by heck
He made the greatest sausages that were ever seen
Until one day he invented a sausage meat machine

One day a little fat boy came walking in the store
He bought a pound of sausages and laid them on the floor
Then he began to whistle, he whistled up a tune
And all the little sausages went dancing round the room
One day the machine got busted,
The darn thing wouldn't work
And Dunderbeck, he crawled inside
To see what made it jerk
His wife she had a nightmare, she walked in her sleep
She gave the crank a wickety-wank, and Dunderbeck was meat

So if you have some cats and dogs
You'd better keep them locked
Cause if you don't, I'm warning you
You're in for a great big shock
And if you eat some sausage meat from Dunderbeck right now
You'll hear the little sausages meow and bow wow wow.

FILLIMEEOOREAY (Em)

In 18 hundred and 41
I put my corduroy britches on
I put my corduroy britches on
To work upon the railway

chorus:
FILLIMEEOOREEOOREEAY
FILLIMEEOOREEOOREEAY
FILLIMEEOOREEOOREEAY
TO WORK UPON THE RAILWAY

In 18 hundred and 42, I left the Old World for the New
Curse the luck that brought me through
To work upon the railway

In 18 hundred and 43, 'twas then I met sweet Biddy Magee
An elegant wife she's been to me
While working on the railway

In 18 hundred and 45, I felt myself more dead than alive
I felt myself more dead than alive
While working on the railway

It's "Pat do this" and "Pat do that"
Without a stocking or cravat
Nothing but an old straw hat
While Pat works on the railway.

In 18 hundred and 47
Sweet Biddy Magee, she went to Heaven
If she left one kid, she left 11
To work upon the railway

But only three little ducks came back

Three little ducks went out one day

Three little ducks went out one day
Over the hills and far away

Mother duck said, quack quack quack quack
But only one little duck came back

One little ducks went out one day

So sad mother duck went out one day
Over the hills and far away
Mother duck said, quack quack quack quack
And all of the five little duckies came back.

THE FOX (C)

The fox went out on a chilly night
And he prayed for the moon to give him light
For he'd many a mile to go that night
Before he reached the town-o! Town-o! Town-o!
He'd many a mile to go that night before he reached the town-o

He ran till he came to a great big pen
Where the ducks and the geese were kept therein
"A couple of you will grease my chin
Before I leave this town-o!"

He grabbed the gray goose by the neck
Flung a duck across his back
He didn't mind the "Quack, quack, quack!"
And their legs all dangling down-o!

Old Mother Flipper Flopper jumped out of bed
Out of the window she popped her head
She said, "John, John! The gray goose is gone
And the fox is on the town-o!

The farmer went to the top of the hill
Blowed his horn both loud and shrill
The fox said, "I'd better flee with my kill
Or they'll soon be on my trail-o!

He ran till he came to his cozy den
There were the little ones, eight, nine, ten
Saying, "Daddy, Daddy, better go back again
For it must be a mighty fine town-o

Then the fox and his wife without any strife
Cut up the goose with a carving knife
They never had such a supper in their life
And the little ones chewed on the bones-o!

Freight train, freight train
Comin' round the bend
Freight train, freight train
Gone again
One of these days turn that train around
And go back to my home town

One more place I'd like to be
One more place I'd like to see
To watch those old Blue Ridge Mountains climb
When I ride old Number Nine

When I'm dead and in my grave
No more good times do I crave
Place a tombstone at my head and feet
Tell my friends that I've gone to sleep

GONNA MAKE THIS GARDEN GROW
GONNA MULCH IT DEEP AND LOW
GONNA MAKE IT FERTILE GROUND

PLEASE KEEP THEM SAFE BELOW
TILL THE RAIN COMES TUMBLING DOWN

(Chorus)

Plant your rows straight and long
Season with a cheerful song
Mother Earth will keep you strong
If you give her loving care
Old crow watching from a tree
Got his hungry eye on me
In my garden I'm as free
As that feathered thief up there

(Chorus)

Pulling weeds, picking stones
We are made of dreams and bones
I need a spot to call my own
Till the time is close at hand
Grain for grain, sun and rain
Find my way in nature's chain
Tune my body and my brain
To the music of the land

GYPSY ROVER (E)

The gypsy rover came over the hills
And down through the valley so shady
He whistled and he sang
Till the green woods rang
And he won the heart of a lady

chorus:
AH DI DOO, AN DI DOO DA DAY
AH DI DOO AH DI DAY DEE
HE WHISTLED AND HE SANG
TILL THE GREEN WOODS RANG
AND HE WON THE HEART OF A LADY

She left her father's castle gate
She left her own true lover
She left her servants and her estate
To follow the gypsy rover

Her father saddled his fastest steed
And roamed the valley all over
He sought his daughter at great speed
And the whistling gypsy rover

He came at last to a mansion fine
Down by the River Clayde
And there was music, and there was wine
For the gypsy and his lady

He's no gypsy, my father, said she
But lord of free lands all over
And I will stay till my dying day
With the whistling gypsy rover

Halfway up the stairs is the stair where I sit.
There isn't any other stair quite like it.
It's not at the bottom, it's not at the top,
But this is the stair where I always stop.

Halfway up the stairs isn't up and isn't down.
It isn't in the nursery, it isn't in the town.
And all sorts of funny thoughts run round my head:
"It isn't really Anywhere! It's somewhere else Instead!"

THE HAPPY WANDERER (A)

I love to go a-wandering, along the mountain track,
And as I go I love to sing, my knapsack on my back.

I love to wander by the stream, it dances in the sun.
So joyously it calls to me: come join my happy song.

Valderi, valdera
Valderi, valdera ha-ha-ha-ha-ha
Valderi, valdera
Come join my happy song

I wave my hat to all I meet, and they wave back to me,
And blackbirds call so loud and sweet
From every greenwood tree.

Valderi, valdera
Valderi, valdera ha-ha-ha-ha-ha
Valderi, valdera
From every greenwood tree

High overheard the skylarks wing, they never rest at home.
But just like me, they love to sing
As o'er the world we roam.

Oh may I go a-wandering until the day I die,
And may I always laugh and sing beneath the clear blue sky

Valderi, valdera
Valderi, valdera ha-ha-ha-ha-ha
Valderi, valdera
Beneath the clear blue sky

I DON'T WANT TO LIVE ON THE MOON (c)

Well I'd like to visit the moon,
On a rocket ship high in the air.
Yes, I'd like to visit the moon,
But I don't think I'd like to live there.

Though I'd like to look down at the Earth from above,
I would miss all the places and people I love
So although I might like it for one afternoon
I don't want to live on the moon.

I'd like to travel under the sea,
I could meet all the fish everywhere
Yes, I'd travel under the sea,
But I don't think I'd like to live there.
I might stay for a day if I had my wish
But there's not much to do when your friends are all fish,
And an oyster and clam aren't real family,
So I don't want to live in the sea.

I'd like to visit the jungle, hear the lion roar,
Go back in time and meet a dinosaur,
There's so many strange places I'd like to be,
But none of them permanently.

So if I should visit the moon,
I will dance on a moonbeam and then,
I will make a wish on a star
And I'll wish I was home once again.

Though I'd like to look down at the Earth from above,
I would miss all the places and people I love
So although I may go, I'll be coming home soon
Cause I don't want to live on the moon
No I don't want to live on the moon.

I'M NOT AFRAID OF THE DARK (D)

chorus:
I'm not afraid, I'm not afraid of the dark
I'm not afraid, I'm not afraid of the dark

When it's time to go to sleep
I climb into my bed
I wrap the covers 'round me
I lay down my head
I get a warm cozy feeling
When everyone says goodnight
I always think of happy thoughts
When I turn off the light.

Sometimes I get awakened at night
By noises all around my house
It might be a creak, a thump, a squeak
Or the cat who wants to go out
Now and then it's a neighbor's dog
Howling up at the moon
Some nights I hear my sister
Closing the door to her room.

Some nights as I lie in bed
I see shapes on my wall
Even if they move across the floor
I'm not scared at all
I watch them dance on my window
I wonder what they could be
I can see they're only shadows
I know they won't bother me.

Can't you hear the whistle blow?
It's blowing for me, and me alone
Goodbye, little Bonnie, goodbye

LITTLE WHITE DUCK (D)

There's a little white duck sitting in the water
A little white duck doing what he oughter
He took a bite of a lily pad
Flapped his wings and he said, "I'm glad
That I'm a little white duck sitting in the water
Quack, quack, quack."

There's a little green frog swimming in the water
A little green frog doing what he oughter
He jumped right off of the lily pad
That the little duck bit and he said, "I'm glad
I'm a little green frog swimming in the water
Glump, glump, glump."

There's a little black bug floating on the water
A little black bug doing what he oughter
He tickled the frog on the lily pad
That the little duck bit and he said "I'm glad
I'm a little black bug floating on the water
Chirps, chirps, chirps."

There's a little red snake laying in the water
A little red snake doing what he oughter
He frightened the duck and the frog so bad
He ate the little bug and he said, "I'm glad
I'm a little red snake laying in the water
Wriggles, wriggles, wriggles."

Now there's nobody left left sitting in the water
Nobody left doing what he oughter
There's nothing left but the lily pad
The duck and the frog ran away, I'm sad
Because there's nobody left sitting in the water
Boo, hoo, hoo

LOLLIPOP (G)

Lollipop lollipop
Oh lolli lolli lolli
Lollipop lollipop
Oh lolli lolli lolli
Lollipop lollipop
Oh lolli lolli lolli
Lollipop

Call my baby lollipop, tell you why
His kiss is sweeter than an apple pie
And when he does his shaky rockin' dance
Man, I haven't got a chance

I call him
Lollipop lollipop
Oh lolli lolli lolli
Lollipop lollipop.....

Sweeter than candy on a stick
Huckleberry, cherry or lime
If you had a choice he'd be your pick
But lollipop is mine

Lollipop lollipop
Oh lolli lolli lolli
Lollipop lollipop.....

Crazy way he thrills me, tell you why
Just like a lightning from the sky
He loves to kiss me till I can't see straight
GEE, MY LOLLIPOP IS GREAT

I call him
Lollipop lollipop
Oh lolli lolli lolli
Lollipop lollipop.....

LOLLIPOP TREE (C)

One fine day in early spring I played a funny trick.
Right in the yard behind our house I planted a lollipop stick.
Then every day I watered it well, and watched it carefully.
I hoped one day that stick would grow to be a lollipop tree.

chorus:

Ah ha ha! Oh ho ho! What a place to be!
Under my lollipop, lollipop, lollipop, lolli- lolli- lollipop tree.

Then one day I woke to find
A very lovely sight.
A tree all full of lollipops
Had grown in the dark of the night.
I sat beneath that wonderful tree
And looked up with a grin.
And when I opened up my mouth
The pops would drop right in.

(Chorus)

Winter came and days grew cold
As winter days will do.
And on my tree, my lovely tree,
Not one little lollipop grew.
From every branch an icicle hung.
The limbs were bare as bones.
But, when I broke those icicles off
They turned to ice cream cones

(Chorus)

LONDON BRIDGE (C)

London Bridge is falling down, falling down, falling down.
London Bridge is falling down, my fair lady.

How will we build it up?

Build it up with silver and gold,

Gold and silver I have none,

Build it up with needles and pins,

Pins and needles bend and break,

Build it up with wood and clay,

Wood and clay will wash away,

Build it up with stone so strong,

Stone so strong will last so long,
My fair lady.

LONG LONG LONG LONG LONG WAY HOME (D)

chorus:
IT WAS A LONG LONG LONG LONG LONG WAY HOME.

I was coming home in a yellow bus
But the bus broke down and stranded us.
I was coming home in a yellow bus
But the bus broke down and stranded us.
It was a long long long long long way home.

So I hopped a train coming down the line
The caboose came loose, I got left behind.

So I found a boat by the riverbank
But we hit a rock and promptly sank.

So I got picked up by a submarine
But they left me off in the Philippines.

Then I took a jet but I couldn't pay
So they threw me out of the cargo bay.

Oh my parachute kept me safe from harm
But I landed in a tree on the neighbor's farm.

So I jumped on a horse, but it threw a shoe
And I had to walk back home to you.

So I'm sorry Mom that I'm home so late
And the dinner's cold and I made you wait.

Bright angels beside my darling abide
They will guard thee from harm, thou shalt wake in my arms

Lend it, spend it and you'll have so many
They'll roll all over the floor, for

A smile is something if you give it away

A hug is something if you give it away

A kiss is something if you give it away

Laughter is something if you give it away

A song is something if you give it away

MAIL MYSELF TO YOU (C)

I'm gonna wrap myself in paper,
I'm gonna daub myself with glue,
Stick some stamps on top of my head,
I'm gonna mail myself to you.

I'm gonna tie me up in a red string,
I'm gonna tie blue ribbons too,
I'm gonna climb up in my mailbox,
I'm gonna mail myself to you.

When you find me in your mailbox
Cut the string and let me out,
Wash the glue off of my fingers,
Stick some bubblegum in my mouth.

Take me out of my wrapping paper,
Wash the stamps off my head,
Pour me full of some ice-cream sodas,
Put me in my nice warm bed.

I'm gonna wrap myself in paper,
I'm gonna daub myself with glue,
Stick some stamps on top of my head,
I'm gonna mail myself to you.

MEAN LOSER BLUES (A)

Ain't got no friends this side of Tennessee
Ain't got no friends. What's wrong with me?
I got a chip on my shoulder as big as this here tree.

Went into a bar last Saturday night
Only had one drink, i got into a fight
Well I received a black eye, it sure served me right.

Every place that I go and everyone that I see
I seem to find trouble like it's following me
Well I'm a loser, I got the mean loser blues
Well I'm a mean losin' bruiser, I got the mean loser blues.

bridge:
Well some people say I'll never get far
I just can't seem to stay out of those bars
I try and I try but it ain't no use
Well I'm way off track like a loose caboose

Every place that I go and everyone that I see
I seem to find trouble like it's following me
Well I'm a loser, I got the mean loser blues
Well I'm a mean losin' bruiser, I got the mean loser blues.

THE MERMAID (A)

On Friday morn when we set sail,
And our ship not far from the land
We there did espy a pretty mermaid,
With a comb and a glass in her hand, her hand, her hand
With a comb and a glass in her hand.

chorus:
And the raging seas, the raging seas did roar,
And the stormy winds did blow,
While we jolly sailor boys are up and up aloft,
With the landlubbers lying down below, below, below
With the landlubbers lying down below.

Then up spake our gallant captain bold
And a very brave man was he;
"Oh, I've a bonny wife in fair Portsmouth town,
And tonight she a widow she will be."

Then up spake the little cabin boy,
And a very fine boy was he;
"I've a father and mother in yon Portsmouth town
And tonight they will weep for me."

Then up spake the jolly fat old cook
And a very fat man was he;
"Oh I care much more for me kettles and me pots
Than I do for the bottom of the sea."

Then three times round went our gallant ship,
And three times round went she;
For the sake of a lifeboat, we all went down,
And we sank to the bottom of the sea.

In an Octopus's Garden in the shade.
He'd let us in, knows where we've been,
In his Octopus's Garden in the shade.
I'd ask my friends to come and see
An Octopus's Garden with me.

I'd like to be under the sea
In an Octopus's Garden in the shade.

We would be warm below the storm
In our little hideaway beneath the waves.
Resting our head on the sea bed
In an Octopus's Garden near a cave.
We would sing and dance around
Because we know we can't be found.

I'd like to be under the sea
In an Octopus's Garden in the shade.

We would shout and swim about
The coral that lies beneath the waves.
Oh, what joy for every girl and boy
Knowing they're happy and they're safe.
We would be so happy, you and me.
No one there to tell us what to do.

I'd like to be under the sea
In an Octopus's Garden with you,
In an Octopus's Garden with you,
In an Octopus's Garden with you.

Says, I'm comin' from the South: Susanna don't you cry

I had an old coat but the coat got torn
What'll I do? (what'll I do?)
I had an old coat but the coat got torn
What'll I do? (what'll I do?)
I had an old coat but the coat got torn
So I cut it down and a jacket was born
And I sing every day of my life

Well in a few years those threads got thin
So I called it a shirt and I tucked it in

The sleeves wore out in the east and west
So I pulled them off and I had a vest

I stained that vest with cherry pie
So I cut and sewed till I had a tie

Well when that tie was lookin' lean
I made a patch for my old blue jeans

Well when that patch was next to nothin'
I rolled it up into a button

Well when that button was almost gone
With what was left I made this song
Which I sing every day of my life
Yes I sing every day of my life.

ON TOP OF SPAGHETTI (C)

On top of spaghetti
All covered with cheese
I lost my poor meatball
When somebody sneezed
It rolled off the table
And onto the floor
And then my poor meatball
Rolled out of the door
It rolled in the garden
And under a bush
And then my poor meatball
Was nothing but mush
The mush was as tasty
As tasty could be
And early next summer
It grew into a tree
The tree was all covered
With beautiful moss
It grew great big meatballs
And tomato sauce
So if you eat spaghetti
All covered with cheese
Hold onto your meatballs
And don't ever sneeze.

There's a land that I heard of once in a lullaby
Somewhere over the rainbow, skies are blue
And the dreams that you dare to dream really do come true

And wake up where the clouds are far behind me
Where troubles melt like lemon drops
Away above the chimney tops
That's where you'll find me

Somewhere over the rainbow bluebirds fly
Birds fly over the rainbow
Why then oh why can't I?

Someday I'll wish upon a star
And wake up where the clouds are far behind me
Where troubles melt like lemon drops
Away above the chimney tops
That's where you'll find me

Somewhere over the rainbow, bluebirds fly
Birds fly over the rainbow
Why then oh why can't I?

If happy little bluebirds fly
Beyond the rainbow, why oh why can't I?

I thought I heard a chicken sneeze
Singing Polly Wolly Doodle all the day

He sneezed so hard with the whooping cough
Singing Polly Wolly Doodle all the day
He sneezed his head and his tail right off
Singing Polly Wolly Doodle all the day

POP GOES THE WEASEL (C)

'Round and 'round the cobbler's bench, the monkey chased the weasel,
The monkey thought 'twas all in fun, pop goes the weasel.
A penny for a spool of thread, a penny for a needle,
That's the way the money goes. Pop! Goes the weasel.

My son and I went to the fair, we saw a lot of people
We spent a lot of money there, pop goes the weasel!
I got sick from all the sun, my sonny boy got the measles
Still we had a lot of fun, pop goes the weasel!

I climbed up and down the coast, to find a golden eagle
I climbed the rocks, and thought I was close
Pop goes the weasel! But, alas, I lost my way
Saw nothing but a seagull, I tore my pants and killed the day
Pop goes the weasel!

I went to the grocery store, I thought a little cheese'll
Be good to catch a mouse on the floor
Pop goes the weasel!
But the mouse was very bright, he wasn't a mouse to wheedle
He took the cheese and said "Good night"
Pop goes the weasel!

All around the cobbler's bench, the monkey chased the weasel
The monkey thought 'twas all in fun
Pop goes the weasel!
Johnny's got the whooping cough And Mary's got the measles
That's the way the money goes
Pop goes the weasel!

I don't make a sound
When somebody turns the handle

PUFF (G)

Puff the magic dragon lived by the sea
And frolicked in the autumn mist in a land called Honalee
Little Jackie Paper loved that rascal Puff
And brought him string and sealing wax
And other fancy stuff

chorus:
OH, PUFF THE MAGIC DRAGON
LIVED BY THE SEA
AND FROLICKED IN THE AUTUMN MIST
IN A LAND CALLED HONAH ALLEE
PUFF THE MAGIC DRAGON
LIVED BY THE SEA
AND FROLICKED IN THE AUTUMN MIST
IN A LAND CALLED HONALEE

Together they would travel, in a boat with billowed sail
Jackie kept a lookout perched on Puff's gigantic tail
Noble kings and princes would bow whene'er they came
And pirate ships would lower their flags
When Puff rolled out his name

A dragon lives forever, but not so little boys
Painted wings and giants' rings make way for other toys
One gray night it happened, Jackie Paper came no more
And Puff that mighty dragon, he ceased his fearless roar
His head was bent in sorrow, green scales fell like rain
Puff no longer went to play along the cherry lane
Without his lifelong friend, Puff could not be brave
So Puff that mighty dragon sadly slipped into his cave

I DID NOT BRING MY SPECS WITH ME

There were eggs, eggs, with little hairy legs

There was butter, butter, rolling in the gutter

There were beans, beans, as big as submarines

There was gravy, gravy, enough to float the Navy

There was bread, bread, heavier than lead

There were flies, flies, swarming 'round the pies

There were fishes, fishes, washing all the dishes

There were Scouts, Scouts, eating brussels sprouts

RAINBOW CONNECTION (E)

Why are there so many songs about rainbows,
And what's on the other side?
Rainbows are visions but only illusions,
And rainbows have nothing to hide.
So we've been told and some choose to believe it.
I know they're wrong, wait and see.
Someday we'll find it, the rainbow connection
The lover the dreamers and me.

La da da dee da..........

Who said that every wish would be heard and answered.
When wished on the morning star.
Somebody thought of that and someone believed it.
Look what it's done so far.
What's so amazing that keeps us star gazing,
And what do we think we might see?
Someday we'll find it,
The rainbow connection
the lovers, the dreamers and me

(bridge)
All of us under its spell
We know that it's probably magic

Have you been half asleep and have you heard voices
I've heard them calling my name
Is this the sweet sound that calls the young sailors?
The voices might be one and the same.
I've heard it too many times to ignore it
It's something that I'm s'posed to be
Someday we'll find it.
The rainbow connection
the lovers, the dreamers and me.

ROCK-A-BYE, BABY (E)

Rock-a-bye, baby, in the treetop
When the wind blows, the cradle will rock
When the bough breaks, the cradle will fall
And down will come baby, cradle and all

Baby is drowsing, cosy and fair
Mother sits near, in her rocking chair
Forward and back, the cradle she swings
And though baby sleeps, he hears what she sings

From the high rooftops, down to the sea
No one's as dear as baby to me
Wee little fingers, eyes wide and bright
Now sound asleep, until morning light

Like a streak, streak of light

THIS LAND IS YOUR LAND (D/E)

chorus:
THIS LAND IS YOUR LAND
THIS LAND IS MY LAND
FROM CALIFORNIA
TO THE NEW YORK ISLAND
FROM THE REDWOOD FOREST
TO THE GULF STREAM WATERS
THIS LAND WAS MADE FOR YOU AND ME

As I went walking that ribbon of highway
I saw above me that endless skyway
I saw below me the golden valley
This land was made for you and me

I roamed and rambled and followed my footsteps
To the sparkling sands of her diamond deserts
And all around me, a voice was sounding:
This land was made for you and me

Was a great high wall there that tried to stop me
A great big sign there said private property
But on the other side it didn't say nothing --
That side was made for you and me

When the sun come shining, then I was strolling
In wheat fields waving and dust clouds rolling
The voice was chanting as the fog was lifting:
This land was made for you and me

-------

In the squares of the city, by the shadow of the steeple
By the relief office, I saw my people
As they stood there hungry, I stood there whistling
This land was made for you and me

(an American Indian verse)
This land is your land, but it once was my land,
Until we sold you Manhattan Island.
You pushed our Nations to the reservations;
This land was stole by you from me.

Twinkle, twinkle, little star, how I wonder what you are!

VEGETARIAN BARBEQUE MOOSE (D)

chorus:
Look out campers, here comes Bruce
The happy vegetarian barbeque moose
He likes the leaves on the trees
The green green moss
But his own way of course
He likes it all with barbeque sauce.

In the state of Maine, way up North
A herd of moose came marching forth
It's early in the morning and it's time to eat
One bull moose wants a special treat
One bull moose wants a special treat.

(Chorus)

The campers watch and wait each day
To see if Bruce will come their way
They hide in tents and stay real still
While Bruce licks the sauce
From the barbeque grill
Bruce licks the sauce from the barbeque grill.

(Chorus)

Now the campers near and far
Come with barbeque sauce in a special jar
For the big bull moose who comes each day
Likes his vegetation his own way
Likes his vegetation his very own way.

(Chorus)

We feed hay to the horse
Carrots to the rabbit
Folks up North have a brand new habit
They eat their dinner
And they drink their juice
Leave a little bottle of sauce for Bruce
Leave a little sauce for the barbeque moose.

WALTZING MATILDA (C)

Once a jolly swagman camped by a billabong
Under the shade of a coolibah tree
And he sang as he as he sat
And waited while his billy boiled:
"You'll come a-waltzing Matilda with me."
Waltzing Matilda, waltzing Matilda
You'll come a-waltzing Matilda with me
And he sang as he sat
And waited while his billy boiled:
"You'll come a-waltzing Matilda with me."

Down came a jumbuck to drink at the billabong
Up jumped the swagman, grabbed him with glee
And he sang as he shoved that jumbuck in his tucker-bag:
"You'll come a-waltzing Matilda with me."
Waltzing Matilda, waltzing Matilda
You'll come a-waltzing Matilda with me
And he sang as he shoved that jumbuck in his tucker-bag:
"You'll come a-waltzing Matilda with me."

Up rode the squatter, mounted on his thoroughbred
Down came the troopers, one, two, three
"Who's that jolly jumbuck you've got in your tucker bag?
You'll come a-waltzing Matilda with me!"

Up jumped the swagman, sprang into the billabong
"You'll never catch me alive!" said he
And his ghost may be heard as you pass by that billabong:
"You'll come a-waltzing Matilda with me."

Then they holler, "Red hot mama!"
Young or old, old or young
The guy that started it should be hung
Vo doe de o, vo doe de o

WHEN I'M SIXTY-FOUR (G)

When I get older, losing my hair, many years from now.
Will you still be sending me a valentine, birthday greeting bottle of wine?
If I'd been out till quarter to three, would you lock the door?
Will you still need me, will you still feed me, when I'm sixty-four?

You'll be older too
And if you say the word
I could stay with you

I could be handy, mending a fuse, when your lights have gone.
You can knit a sweater by the fireside. Sunday morning go for a ride
Doing the garden digging the weeds. Who could ask for more?
Will you still need me? Will you still feed me?
When I'm sixty-four?

Every summer we can rent a cottage on the Isle of Wight, if it's not too dear
We shall scrimp and save.
Grandchildren on your knee -- Vera, Chuck and Dave

Send me a postcard, drop me a line, stating point of view.
Indicate precisely what you mean to say. Yours sincerely, wasting away.
Give me your answer, fill in a form, mine for evermore.
Will you still need me? Will you still feed me?
When I'm sixty-four

Oh when the stars begin to fall
Well I want to be in that number
When the stars begin to fall

THE WOLF (Bm)

There was a little girl, went walking in the wood
She wore a bright red riding cap, her name was Riding Hood.

The basket on her arm was filled with things to eat
She took it to her Granny's house, because she was so sweet.

But little did she know a wolf was watching her
He was a great big hungry wolf who liked to eat up girls.

The wolf made up his mind to visit Granny first
And when she opened up the door, into the house he burst.

"I beg you Mr. Wolf," the poor old lady cried,
"Red Riding Hood will be here soon, and she's too young to die."

The wolf he gave a laugh, and not a tear he shed
He jumped on Granny, ate her up, and then got in her bed.

And when the girl arrived, she knocked on Granny's door
"Come in," the wolf called out to her. "It's Riding Hood, I'm sure."

The wolf stayed in the bed, and covered up his face
Red Riding Hood came in the house and gave him an embrace.

"Oh Granny," said the girl, "why are your eyes so wide?"
"The better for to see you with," the great big bad wolf lied.

"Oh Granny, but your ears -- how did they get so hairy?"
"The better for to hear you with." His voice was very scary.

"Oh Granny," said the girl, "I fear there's something wrong.
Why were your teeth so small before and now they're sharp and long?"

The wolf he laughed out loud, and leaped right out of bed
"The better for to eat you with!" he roared, and she was dead.

The moral of this song: don't walk in woods alone
Or you'll end up like Riding Hood, with nothing left but bones.

cats: bats. because they are so cute / I'd like to eat my boot

pigs: wigs. cause wigs are what you wear / I'd like to eat my hair

flies: pies. because they are so sweet / I'd like to eat my feet

cows: plows. because they're made of metal / I'd like to eat a kettle

snakes: cakes. because they taste so fine / I'd eat a porcupine

mice: rice. because it is so white / I'd like to eat a kite

birds: words. because they like to talk / I'd like to eat a clock

bats: hats. you put them on your head. / I'd like to eat my bed

lions: giants. because they are so tall / I'd eat a basketball

YANKEE DOODLE (g)

Yankee Doodle went to town
A-riding on a pony
Stuck a feather in his hat
And called it macaroni

chorus:
YANKEE DOODLE, KEEP IT UP
YANKEE DOODLE DANDY
MIND THE MUSIC AND THE STEP
AND WITH THE GIRLS BE HANDY

Father and I went down to camp
Along with Captain Gooding
And there we saw the men and boys
As thick as hasty pudding

There was Captain Washington
Upon a slapping stallion
A-giving orders to his men
I guess there was a million.

YELLOW BIRD (C)

Yellow bird, up high in banana tree.
Yellow bird, you sit all alone like me
Did your lady friend
Leave the nest again?
That is very sad,
Makes me feel so bad.
You can fly away, in the sky away.
You more lucky than me.

I wish I was a yellow bird,
I'd fly away with you.
But I am not a yellow bird
So here I sit, not no left to do.

Yellow bird, up high in banana tree.
Yellow bird, you sit all alone like me
You can fly away, in the sky away,
Peacock coming soon, big old nectar moon
Black and yellow you, like banana too
I might pick you someday.

Yellow bird, up high in banana tree.
Yellow bird, you sit all alone like me
Better fly away, in the sky away
Hunter coming soon, stay from night to noon
Like a yellow you, like a banana too
They might pick you someday.

I wish I was a yellow bird,
I'd fly away with you.
But I am not a yellow bird
So here I sit, not no left to do.

YELLOW SUBMARINE (D)

In the town where I was born, lived a man who sailed to sea
And he told us of his life, in the land of submarines
So we sailed up to the sun, till we found the sea of green
And we lived beneath the waves, in our yellow submarine

chorus:
WE ALL LIVE IN A YELLOW SUBMARINE
YELLOW SUBMARINE, YELLOW SUBMARINE
WE ALL LIVE IN A YELLOW SUBMARINE
YELLOW SUBMARINE, YELLOW SUBMARINE

And our friends are all aboard, many more of them live next door
And the band begins to play

(Chorus)

As we live a life of ease, every one of us has all we need
Sky of blue and sea of green, in our yellow submarine

YOU ARE MY SUNSHINE (C)

chorus:
YOU ARE MY SUNSHINE, MY ONLY SUNSHINE
YOU MAKE ME HAPPY WHEN SKIES ARE GRAY
YOU'LL NEVER KNOW DEAR, HOW MUCH I LOVE YOU
PLEASE DON'T TAKE MY SUNSHINE AWAY

The other night, dear as I was sleeping
I dreamed I held you in my arms
When I awoke, dear I was mistaken, and I hung my head and cried

I'll always love you and make you happy
If you will only say the same
But if you leave me to love another, you'll regret it all someday

You told me once dear you really loved me
And no one else could come between
But now you've left me and love another
You have shattered all my dreams.
